Julie Bowen talked about her dating life in an interview with guest host Adam DeVine on The Ellen DeGeneres Show on January 14, 2022. The actress was married to real estate agent Scott Phillips, but they got a divorce in 2018. After 13 years of marriage, Julie asked for a divorce just a few days before the couple made a formal announcement that they were no longer together.
Adam asked Julie how her love life is going right now, and she told him that she is “very single” and has “stopped dating.” She also joked that she was “retired from dating” and said that Gertrude Stein, her beloved dog, was her “retirement gift.”
In the episode, she talked more about why she decided to get a dog “I did go on some dates, and one guy said, “You have to come to my house because I have a dog.” And I thought, “That’s it, I’m getting a dog.” Now, it’s up to me.”
People Magazine said that Julie said there was one person she might leave her dating retirement for musician Harry Styles. Adam made a joke when he saw that Julie went on Harry’s Fine Line tour in November 2021. He said, “Word on the street is that you have a little bit of a crush, girl.”
“You want to know if I’d start dating again for Harry Styles?” Julie responded. “Oh, absolutely. Him? Look at him!”

Julie says more about what she likes about Styles. “He has the same energy as [Stephen “Twitch” Boss], where they’re so beautiful and sexy, but there’s so much joy that you don’t feel dirty about what’s going on in your pants.”
She said, “He only brings happiness, light, and watermelon sugar. You’re just happy about the whole thing.”

Julie and Scott are no longer together, but they have three children together: Oliver, who is 14, and twins John and Gustav, who are 12. Julie used to joke that her children were keeping her marriage together “I only remember what happened before we had kids. Then you say, “What? ” Dozen years. We’ve had kids for nine years. So I remember the first three years, but I don’t remember anything else.”

She also talked in glowing terms about her then-husband and said that one year they skipped the Emmys to celebrate their anniversary. “He’s been there every year and has been so helpful. This year, he was in a tennis tournament and I wasn’t a participant, so I asked him, “What do you want to do for our anniversary?” I mean, it’s a huge honor to be nominated and invited, but it’s hard to hold the purse.”
