Tate Rosner McRae was born on July 1, 2003, in Calgary, Alberta, to a Canadian father with Scottish roots and a German mother. Because of her father’s job, she and her family moved to Oman when she was four, where her mother taught dance lessons. They lived there for three years. McRae went to The American International School Muscat while she was living in Oman (TAISM). McRae started dancing for fun when she was six years old.

When she was eight, she moved back to Calgary and began to dance more seriously. She competed with Drewitz Dance Productions. At age 11, she started training in all kinds of dance at her mother’s dance company, YYC Dance Project, and in ballet at the School of Alberta Ballet, which is the company’s training school.
McRae went to Western Canada High School, but because of her “busy schedule,” she had to get her diploma online in 2022.
