Aliyah Boston is one of the top college basketball players in the United States, having won multiple awards and accolades during her time at the University of South Carolina. She has been making waves in the college basketball scene since she first began playing. Born in Saint Thomas, US Virgin Islands, Boston went to Worcester Academy in Worcester, Massachusetts, where she was a McDonald’s All-American and the Massachusetts Gatorade Player of the Year three times. Boston has helped the U.S. win a number of gold titles.
In 2022, Boston led South Carolina to their second national championship in school history and was named the NCAA Tournament Most Outstanding Player (MOP). That year, she also won Player of the Year and Defensive Player of the Year honors. Boston won the Lisa Leslie Award as the best center in NCAA women’s basketball for three consecutive years. She has also been the subject of much speculation and interest in her personal life, particularly in regards to her boyfriend, Tre-Vaughn Minott.
Meet Aliyah Boston’s Boyfriend, Tre-Vaughn Minott
College basketball player Tre-Vaughn Minott is from Montreal, Canada. He goes to school at the University of South Carolina and plays center for the South Carolina Gamecocks, the school’s sports team. Minott told NPH about his game, “If I’m not better than yesterday, then I didn’t do something right.”
“Many people in my inner group have been telling me for years that I could be a great player, and now I’m starting to believe them. I want to be on the same level as Joel Embid. I take it as a challenge to bring back the usual shape of the big. I don’t want it to die. It’s a part of me and makes me the player I am.”
Minott started going to the university in 2020 and started dating Aliyah Boston, who was also a college basketball star. Boston plays center and power forward for the SC Gamecocks women’s team.
Aliyah Boston’s Senior Year At South Carolina
Aliyah Boston‘s senior year at South Carolina didn’t end the way she wanted, and it’s now up to her to decide if this will be her last season.
The Gamecocks star, who is expected to be the No. 1 pick in the 2023 WNBA Draft, told reporters after her team’s shocking loss to Iowa in the Final Four on Friday that she hasn’t decided whether or not to come back for a fifth season: “As of now, I haven’t chosen… This is a very important choice. I was going to have to really write down the pros and cons of everything, whether we won or not.
South Carolina’s head coach, Dawn Staley, said that she would push Boston to go into the draft, in part because the defense was getting more attention.
“I’ll tell her to leave. There are defenses that are used against her that don’t let her play her game, which makes it hard for the refs to call the game. So, I’d tell her to leave. She’s wonderful. She’s all set. She is ready to be on her own. She is ready to move up to the next level, which is the league.”
