When Did Giffords And Kelly Meet And Get Married?
Mark Kelly and Gabrielle Giffords met in China in 2002. The National Committee on US-China Relations had set up a meeting for young leaders. At the time they met, Giffords was an Arizona state senator and Kelly was a NASA astronaut. Kelly has been married and also had two daughters, and Giffords used to have a boyfriend.
Whenever the committee got together again the next year in Arizona, both were single. They went hiking in the Grand Canyon together and became friends. In November 2004, when Giffords asked him to join her on a tour of the Arizona State Prison, their friendship turned into a romance.
