John Richard Nunge plays for the Big East’s Xavier Musketeers. Former Iowa Devil. He redshirted his next season to strengthen and improve. Nunge tore his right anterior cruciate ligament in his fifth sophomore game, ending his season. He averaged 7.1 points and 5.3 rebounds as a redshirt sophomore before tearing his right meniscus, ending his season. Nunge joined Xavier for his junior year. In an 83–63 win over Cincinnati on December 11, 2021, he scored a career-high 31 points and 15 rebounds. Nunge got Honorable Mention All-Big East.

Gabrielle Nunge was born on March 4, 1999, in Edina, Minnesota. She grew up with her parents, Gretchen and Lorenzo Orr, and her sister, Kennedi Orr. Gabrielle played volleyball for four years at Eagan High School, where she led the team to victory in conference play during her senior year. She was selected as the team MVP, an AAU All-American, and a member of the all-state MSHSL State All-Tournament team. She was also chosen as the USJO All-American MVP for the 15 Open.
Gabrielle started her college volleyball career early by leaving high school a semester early. She played for the University of Iowa team, where she was selected as captain in her junior and senior years. In 2017, she played in all 33 matches as the setter and was named B1G co-Freshman of the Week. In 2018, she led Iowa with 1,242 assists and was second on the team with 298 digs, recording a career-high 51 assists, 4 solo blocks, and 7 total blocks in a victory over Northwestern. As a Junior in 2019, Gabrielle appeared in 21 matches and completed the season ranked fifth in program history with 3,226 assists, making her the seventh Hawkeye to surpass 3,000 career assists.
Apart from her athletic career, Gabrielle graduated from the University of Iowa with a bachelor’s degree in communication studies, a minor in rhetoric and persuasion, and a certificate in event management. She has also participated in several community service projects, including helping with the “Bringing Joy to the Children” toy drive and volunteering with Habitat for Humanity and the food bank for Westchester Inc.
