Joel Hans Embiid (born 16 March 1994) is a Cameroonian-French-American NBA player for the Philadelphia 76ers. After one year with the Kansas Jayhawks, the 76ers drafted him third overall in 2014. Multiple foot and knee injuries delayed his debut until 2016–17 when he made NBA All-Rookie First Team despite playing only 31 games. Five-time NBA All-Star, four-time All-NBA Team, three-time All-Defensive Team. During the Sam Hinkie era, 76ers supporters urged him to “believe the process.” Embiid topped the NBA in scoring in 2021–22, becoming the first seven-footer since Shaquille O’Neal (2000).
