Marsha Ambrosius is a renowned English singer and songwriter from Liverpool, England, who started her musical career as a member of Floetry. Since then, she has made a name for herself as a solo artist and has released numerous hit songs. However, her journey to success is not the only thing that sets her apart. Marsha’s love story with her husband, Dez Billups, is equally captivating.
How Did Marsha Meet Dez Billups?
In 2015, during the Floetry reunion tour, Marsha met Dez, who was working as a roadie at the time. Marsha was drawn to his swag and decided to take the bold step of asking him out for a meal. The couple went to a fast-food restaurant, where they talked about love, life, faith, spirituality, and their dreams and aspirations. Marsha recalls that they put everything on the table and have not been apart since that day in July 2015.
Marsha fell in love with Dez, and he fell in love with her. One month after they met, Dez presented her with flowers, chocolate-covered strawberries, and a little gift on stage after the final song of the Floetry tour. Marsha was touched by the gesture and the love that he showed her.

Getting Married and Having a Daughter
In 2016, Marsha became pregnant with their daughter, Nyla. At her baby shower, Dez proposed to her in a touching video where he expressed his love for her and their unborn child. Marsha was taken by surprise and started sobbing when he got down on one knee and slipped the ring on her finger. Dez surprised her by popping the question at her baby shower, right after a video played in which he talked about how much he loved her.
She says, “He’s going into more detail about how excited he is to be a dad and can’t wait for Nyla to come.” “He loves me so much. In the end, he says, “There’s one thing I want you to be before you become the mother of my child.” When he said that, I was like, “Wait, does he mean be his wife?”

Marsha had no idea what was going on. “He got down on one knee, and I couldn’t help but cry. She says, “I couldn’t stop crying.” “He gave me the ring and put it on my finger. It was just a really sad time. I have to cry every time I watch the video. It was great.”
The couple got married in 2017, and their daughter’s name, Nyla, inspired Marsha’s latest album, “Nyla.” The album reflects both “the love for my daughter and the absolute lust it took to create the initial conversation with the man who is now my husband,” says Marsha.
Now, Dez and Marsha work and travel together, supporting each other’s careers. Marsha is currently opening for Maxwell on his 50 Intimate Nights tour.
