Tarana Burke’s Husband: Who Is He?
Tana is a married woman. She tied the knot in the year 2020. However, she kept her husband out of the limelight. She keeps his identity a secret. He was the first person she told about her assault.
According to the Sydney Morning Herald, she said, “The man who is now my daughter’s father was my first love. We dated throughout high school and college. I was 23 when I became pregnant. Our daughter, Kaia, is 24. I felt old enough to be a mom, and I’d been with her dad for years, but I hadn’t planned to get pregnant.”
She continued, I met my husband in the year 1990. He is eight years older than me and used to live in my neighborhood in New York, the Bronx. I was not interested in him at the time. He told me when I was 17 that we’d get married. I said, “That’s impossible. We got married in 2020.”
Burke also noted, “My husband is a little old-fashioned and traditional, so marriage was very important to him. I love him and wanted to be in business with him. That could have gone a number of ways, but I appreciate marriage a lot more than I did before. My husband was the first person I told about the s*xual assault that happened to me when I was seven years old. He made a space for me to feel safe.”
