Leo Eric Varadkar is an Irish Fine Gael politician who has been Tánaiste and Minister for Enterprise, Trade, and Employment since June 2020. From 2017 to 2020, he was Taoiseach and Minister for Defence. He has been the leader of Fine Gael since June 2017, and a Teachta Dála for the Dublin West constituency since 2007. Matthew Barrett got his medical degree from the UCD School of Medicine in 2009 and his MRCPI in 2011. In 2016, when he finished his specialist registrar training in clinical cardiology, he started working as a clinical cardiology lecturer at UCD and RCPI.
