‘Grey’s Anatomy’ Fans Don’t Believe Nick Marsh and Meredith Grey’s Romance in Season 18
When Meredith Grey’s (Ellen Pompeo) new love interest, Nick Marsh (Scott Speedman), was reintroduced in the season 18 premiere, many Grey’s Anatomy viewers were cautious. Some viewers were concerned that the returning character would be unable to compete with Derek Shepherd (Patrick Dempsey), Cormac “McWidow” Hayes (Richard Flood), and even Andrew DeLuca (Patrick Dempsey) (Giacomo Gianniotti). Now that the ABC medical drama has aired a few episodes of its current season, it appears that many Grey’s Anatomy fans are still sceptical about Meredith and Nick’s romance.

Many fans hoped to see Nick and Meredith together when they met in Season 14 of Grey’s Anatomy. However, after saving the transplant surgeon’s kidney, the general surgeon vanished. Despite this, Nick made an appearance in the season 18 opener, and he’s been getting along with Meredith, who shares her time between Minnesota and Seattle.
In Grey’s Anatomy Season 18 Episode 6, “Every Day Is a Holiday (With You),” it appears Meredith and Nick will get more screen time together. Nick suggests that Meredith spend Thanksgiving with him at a cabin in the previews. Of course, the general surgeon must return to Seattle to see her children. However, Meredith’s trip has been canceled due to bad weather, which implies Meredith and Nick could start dating shortly.

Before the premiere of Grey’s Anatomy Season 18 Episode 6 on November 18, ABC published a teaser featuring Meredith and Nick flirting with each other. Then, in the comments, many fans expressed their true feelings about the match. One admirer wrote on Instagram that they “want Hayes.” Then someone else mentioned that they weren’t fond of all the Nick scenes.
“Stop pushing Nick on my screen,” one Instagram user remarked. “I’m not interested in him.”

Meanwhile, some Grey’s Anatomy fans are sceptical about Nick and Meredith’s pairing. A viewer on Reddit noted after the Nov. 11 programme that the coupling feels “odd” and “forced.” Then they speculated that the ABC drama could be “constructing a massive narrative” in the future. Many other viewers have begun to doubt Nick’s authenticity because he hasn’t been seen with anybody other than Meredith.
Regardless, a few Grey’s Anatomy viewers hypothesised that the problem is “the entire Minnesota narrative and how it doesn’t match up with the rest of the programme,” rather than Nick. Another viewer asked if fans of Nick and Meredith will warm up to them “after we [saw] him more integrated” with other characters.

Pompeo asserted that the “viewer will feel” the spark between Nick and Meredith when Speedman joined the medical drama as a series regular.
Meanwhile, it appears that Speedman is aware of Grey’s Anatomy fans’ reactions. But he’s optimistic that he’ll be able to persuade them to change their minds shortly.
