For the third time, we’re breaking up. Us Weekly can confirm that after almost 30 years of marriage, Tish Cyrus has filed for divorce from Billy Ray Cyrus.
We found out that Tish, who is 54 years old, filed for divorce in Williamson County, Tennessee, on April 6, citing “irreconcilable differences.” In her filing, the actress said that she and the “Achy Breaky Heart” singer, who is 60 years old, have lived in separate homes and have not “lived together as husband and wife for more than two years straight.” Tish also asked for an “equitable division and distribution of all marital assets” and for her separate property to be given to her.
The Tennessee woman also filed a restraining order for their marital property. This means that neither she nor Billy Ray can sell or hide any of their assets, and they can’t bother each other or say bad things about each other in front of their children.
This year, Billy Ray was noticeably absent from the family’s holiday celebrations. Fans who were paying close attention commented on Miley Cyrus‘ Instagram post about Christmas and asked where her father was.
They have five kids together: Miley, 29, Brandy, 34, Trace, 33, Braison, 27, and Noah, 22. They have broken up twice before. Billy Ray filed for divorce in October 2010, but he dropped the case in March 2011. During an appearance on The View at the time, the former Hannah Montana star said, “I’ve dropped the divorce.” “I want to make my family whole again… The best things have ever happened.”
But two years later, the producer filed for her own divorce. At the time, she said that they had “irreconcilable differences.” In a statement to Us in June 2013, Tish said, “This is a personal matter, and we are working to find a solution that is best for our family.” “We’d like you to give us some privacy right now.”

The next month, Us said that the two had gotten back together after going to couples therapy.
“We both woke up and realized we love each other, so we decided to stay together. We both went to couples therapy, which is something we hadn’t done in 22 years of being together. It brought us closer together and helped us talk to each other in amazing ways, the performer of “Old Town Road” said at the time in a statement. “Tish also said that marriage can be hard, especially after being in show business for 22 years. We’ve had hard times, but we both realized we didn’t want to be another statistic and wanted to make it work.
In December 1993, Tish and Billy Ray got married in their living room in Franklin, Tennessee. Miley followed in their footsteps when she married Liam Hemsworth in the same place in December 2018, but they broke up only seven months later. (Miley has since moved on with drummer Maxx Morando, and Hemsworth, who is 32, has been dating model Gabriella Brooks since December 2019.)
Billy Ray told GQ after his first breakup with Tish that he and Miley had grown apart in the years since the end of Hannah Montana. The former Dancing with the Stars contestant said at the time, “That damn show ruined my family.” “Everything is sad.”

In June 2013, Miley hinted on Twitter that there was trouble in her family. “Billy Ray Cyrus, since it’s clear that your text messages and emails aren’t working, would you like to talk this way?” she asked.
