Despite an extensive six-day search involving alpine rescue teams and five helicopters, his whereabouts remained unknown, and his remains were not recovered.

According to the reports, the billionaire purportedly made 13 calls to his girlfriend Veronika’s phone just three days before his disappearance in the Alps while hiking. These calls, as indicated in the report, were lengthy, lasting over an hour each, during which it was suggested that he was strategizing his disappearance and the possibility of faking his own death.
Ermilova clarified her association with Haub, asserting that their interaction was strictly professional, and she has had no contact with him since the reported incident. She vehemently denied any personal relationship, stating, “I only had a working relationship with him. I don’t reside with a German billionaire in Moscow; this is false. There is no billionaire within my social circle. I am married and have a child.”
She further explained that Haub’s company was a client of her agency, and they became aware of his disappearance in 2018. Addressing the rumors linking Haub to Moscow, she emphasized, “This has not been confirmed at all. He was officially declared deceased in Germany.”

The investigative report also revealed that Veronika, purportedly Haub’s mistress, operated an “unassuming” event agency in St. Petersburg, specializing in organizing skiing, hiking, and climbing events.
