What’s old can become new again, as the saying goes. Fans are hoping that singer Ashanti and rapper Nelly will give their relationship another shot. During their time together, Ashanti and Nelly were known as one of hip-“power hop’s couples.”
Things between Ashanti and Nelly didn’t work out, though, and they went their separate ways. Fans think, though, that the two might give their relationship another try. After all, they were nice to each other at Fat Joe and Ja Rule’s Verzuz Battle in September 2021, and they just did a show together in August 2022 at Oakland Arena. So, what’s going on? Ashanti and Nelly may be getting back together. Before we talk about the tea, let’s look at the history of their relationship.
Ashanti and Nelly met for the first time at a press event for the Grammy Awards in 2003
It all began at a press conference for the Grammy Awards in 2003.
According to data that Ashanti and Nelly met there for the first time and hit it off.
“The first time I met Nelly, he asked me for my autograph, but I think he was being sarcastic, and I remember writing it down on the program,” Ashanti said in VH1’s Behind the Music special, according to the Rap-Up. “That picture has been used as something else in so many publications, but it all started as a joke. He took a long time to get my number, for the record.”
For a relationship to work, privacy is important. After Ashanti and Nelly met in 2003, it was obvious that they would soon start dating. Cheat Sheet says that the “Foolish” singer and the “Country Grammar” MC quietly dated for ten years.
Even though there were photos of them hanging out together and flirty scenes in a music video (2009’s “Body on Me”), they never came out and said they were dating at the time. Nelly even thought about asking Ashanti to marry him. Nelly told the Rap-Up in an interview in 2010 that he was ready to move on to the next level.
“I really think you should be friends first. “It doesn’t matter how long it takes,” Nelly said. “I’m not the kind of person who wants to marry more than once. If I decide to do something, I will do it. You’re dying if you leave me.”

It’s interesting that Ashanti and Nelly broke up in April 2014, after being together on and off for 11 years.
Are Nelly And Ashanti Still Together?
Everyone loves a good love story, and Ashanti and Nelly were a popular couple in the hip-hop world. And since they just performed their 2008 hit “Body on Me” together at the Oakland Arena, fans think that their flirty behavior is a sign that they will get back together.
Nelly also made it a point to say bad things about Irv Gotti. Irv recently talked about the time when he was said to have dated Ashanti. Irv said in his Drink Champs interview that he found out about Ashanti and Nelly’s relationship by seeing them at a basketball game together.
Nelly heard about it, so the St. Louis MC made it a point to make fun of Irv. According to data, the 47-year-old made a good joke at the end of Ashanti and Nelly’s performance.
As Ashanti left the stage, he told her, “Ayo, I have floor seats to the next game. What’s going on?” Ashanti dropped to the ground and started laughing right away. Mr. Pimp Juice did a good job.
Even though Ashanti and Nelly get along well, they may not be more than just friends. Shortly after the Fat Joe and Ja Rule Verzuz Battle, Ashanti, Joe, and Ja Rule all talked about her run-in with Nelly. This was because rumors about them getting back together were going full speed.
Ashanti said at the time, “Listen, there’s nothing going on.” “Now look, this is where things get crazy. I didn’t know he was going to be there. Since we broke up, I haven’t seen or talked to him. Something like six years? So, I had no idea what to think. I saw him get out of your way.”
