Brett Eldredge is “getting ever closer by the day” to meeting his soul mate.
The 36-year-old country star stopped by the PEOPLE Every Day podcast to speak with host Janine Rubenstein about his annual Glow Live tour, which will stop in 14 U.S. cities in November and December to kick off the holidays. During the interview, Eldredge was asked who he’s singing about this Christmas, and he’s trying to find out himself as of now.
“I think the idea of love at Christmas is very magical and romantic,” he says. “I love my family and everything else, but I don’t know exactly who I want to spend the rest of my life with. But I’m very open to it, I’m getting closer to it every day, and I’m very optimistic.”
Eldredge says that holiday music is “kind of romanticized,” especially when “you’re putting on the velvet bow tie and the tux, and everyone’s dressing up. He says that this romantic way of thinking is why “when I listen to this music, it makes me think of the most vulnerable parts of myself and what I wish I could find in someone else.”

Brett Eldredge Was Previously Dating Rachel Hilbert
Rachel Hilbert, Victoria’s Secret model, first met Eldredge when she played the lead in his 2015 video for “Lose My Mind.” They soon started dating, though.
Hilbert often posted photos of herself and Eldredge on Instagram, including a selfie of the two of them with the caption “Adventure man and lady.”
We don’t know when the couple broke up in the meantime, but we do know that they were dating well into the summer of 2016 because the Daily Mail took a picture of them in Miami.
